When I was in my early 30's, a gentleman told me I should be in the real estate business. I didn't know him well, so he quickly said "you have the personality for it." This unusual, yet confident, comment convinced me to follow through with his suggestion. At that time, I lived in California, so I became licensed and spent the first 8 years in real estate sales. It was tough, it was fun and memorable. The best were the clients who were excited to buy their first home and often sad when they had to sell their favorite one. In 1993, my husband and I moved to Colorado. In 1994, I convinced my husband he and I would do well in the mortgage business. I learned so much about the industry while in CA. My husband spent many years in commercial lending, so it would be natural for him. So we began, admittedly fearful, and enjoyed a very successful business. Once again, the clients were the best. Each of us wanted to make sure we did our jobs, so our clients' dreams of owning a home would come true. In 2004, my husband wanted to retire, so we left CO and moved to Western North Carolina. Didn't know anyone. But the weather suited us, so we sold and moved East. I began the process of earning my NC real estate license and returned to real estate sales in 2005. The local banker recommended Century 21. Whether it is 1993, 2004 or 2025, this is a magical business. Because of the people we get to help. I began this message telling you about the man who said I should be in the real estate business. A few years later, I asked for details.
