Top places : Guyana
Guyana is a sparsely populated, English‑speaking country on the northern coast of South America, culturally linked to the Caribbean and a founding member of CARICOM. It is richly forested, with over 75% covered by the Amazon rainforest, and features dramatic landscapes from coastal plains to hidden waterfalls. Georgetown, the capital, anchors most economic and social activity. While agriculture—especially rice, sugar, shrimp, timber, and gold—remains important, the economy has transformed since offshore oil was discovered in 2015. Thanks to rapidly growing oil production, Guyana became one of the world’s fastest‑growing economies, deploying its rising wealth in infrastructure, education, and energy. English is official, while Guyanese Creole and various Indigenous languages are widely spoken. The population is ethnically diverse, with Indo‑Guyanese, Afro‑Guyanese, Amerindians, and multiple mixed heritages.
