Jan Herod is a proud Vian native, devoted mother to two teenagers—Brooklyn and Gavin—and an active member of her community. She lends her time and energy to the Vian PTO and Vian Band Boosters, and attends Westside Church of Christ. Jan earned her degree in Journalism Advertising from the University of Central Oklahoma, a foundation that launched her career at the Sequoyah County Times in 2004. For over two decades, she has been a vital part of the publication, known for her dedication, creativity, and deep ties to the community. In May 2025, Jan embraced an exciting new chapter by becoming a licensed real estate agent with Century 21 First Choice Realty in Sallisaw. With her strong communication skills, local insight, and passion for helping others, Jan is ready to guide families and individuals through one of life’s biggest decisions—finding a place to call home.
