Joan Hughes

I'm Joan Hughes, and along with my husband Chuck, we found our perfect home in Charles Town, West Virginia, in August 2023. Originally from Maryland, we were looking for a more relaxed pace closer to our blended family of six children and three grandchildren. Charles Town ticked all the boxes!
Commuting daily to Columbia, MD for my job at a flooring company wasn't ideal, so I decided to shift gears. After seeing the booming West Virginia housing market, I made the decision to reactivate my real estate license.
I was previously licensed in Maryland years ago, while balancing family life and running a successful sewing business (everything from reupholstering furniture, to making window treatments, pillows and even horse blankets for the Triple Crown!) With a busy home life, I made the difficult decision to shelf the real estate career and focus on being a mom and building my successful sewing business.
My passion for design led me to pursue an Interior Design degree and from there, I spent the next eight years at Ethan Allen as an Interior Designer. I earned my Maryland Home Improvement license (MHIC) and spent several years working in the home improvement industry for various companies, advising clients on color schemes, space planning, flooring, window treatments, and paint specifications.
I guess you could say I've been obsessed with all things "home" for over 25 years!
So, here I am, happily launching my real estate career again, which I am already finding very rewarding. I am grateful and happy to be living, working and flourishing locally here in beautiful West Virginia.
